INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups butter
2 pounds confectioners' sugar
1 (14 ounce) package flaked coconut
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
3 tablespoons shortening

PREPARATION:
Cream together butter, powdered sugar and coconut. Stir walnuts and condensed milk into the mixture. Roll into 1 inch balls or press them into a small heart shaped cookie mold, arrange on a waxed paper covered cookie sheets. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm. Melt chocolate chips and shortening top in the top of a double boiler over medium-low heat (you can also use a plastic container about the size of the pan. Now fill the pan with water and bring to a boil. Now place the chips in the plastic bowl and let it
set over the boiling water the chips will melt, there is no need for a special double burner). Working in small batches, dip balls/hearts in chocolate until covered. Place on waxed paper covered cookie sheets and refrigerate. When firm, store covered in refrigerator.
